this special tour through ASUNCION CITY you will also visit the MAKA RESERVE
of Mariano Roquo Alonso. The Maka natives live on a reserve of
12 hectares
in the northeast of Asuncion since 1985. Their village consists of simple
cabins; there are only three stone-built houses: the school, the house of
the chief and the cultural house, where you will get informations about the
tribes culture and history as well as handmade jewelry made of weaving and
braiding, which is still passing from generation to generation. The natives
have three important dates, and on these days they dress up in the up in the
typical dress of their tribes and even allow themselves to be photographed
at no cost; The Day of Natives, the Day of the Race and the birthday of the
cacique or local chief. The traditional dances are a legacy of their past
and they have a deeply religious meaning. The chants for example symbolize
the “murmur
of the jungle“,
“cry
of the bird“
and the
“roar
